Wah Mei School – Building Renovations

Founded in 1974, Wah Mei School is San Francisco’s first bilingual English-Cantonese early education program, serving families in the Sunset District and beyond with a strong focus on cultural heritage, language development, and community engagement. As part of its continued growth, Wah Mei School expanded its operational footprint by repurposing the second-floor chapel space of a historic church building into administrative offices and support spaces for staff.

Arana Group was selected to complete the renovation and conversion work, which required a sensitive balance of preserving architectural character while upgrading spaces for modern use. The project included selective demolition, refinishing of historic finishes, and construction of new enclosed office areas to support Wah Mei’s administrative and programmatic needs.
